Geocache Description:

To celebrate ten years of geocaching, let's get together in Guilford, Vermont. It's a chance to meet other geocachers from near and maybe far. And time for some new caches, too.

When: Sunday, May 2, 2010.

Schedule: 11:00 AM to whenever. Group photo at 12:00 Noon, followed by lunch, followed by geocaching? About lunch, I'll provide a grill, hotdogs and the fixings. It would be great for everyone else to bring something for potluck.

Where: The Scout Cabin on Fairground Road in Guilford, Vermont.

Directions (if the coords above aren't enough!): From Brattleboro (I-91 Exit 1), take Route 5 south to Guilford Center Road -- a right turn just past the Guilford Country Store. Take a left onto Weatherhead Hollow Road. Turn left onto Fairground Road. Bear right past the baseball field. Take the first (and only) left -- don't go any farther, the road dead ends at a house. Park near the cabin or pavilion. Or park on the edge of the field across from the baseball field.

Why: It's the tenth anniversary of geocaching! On May 3, 2000, Dave Ulmer placed the first geocache stash near Portland, Oregon and this is our time to celebrate.

Event attendees may be able to earn a "Ten Years!" Event icon. To qualify, we need at least ten attendees and we need to take a festive group photo showing our location and coordinates.

Additionally it will be a chance to find more caches in Guilford or Brattleboro and the surrounding areas. I plan to place some caches that will be offered to event attendees first. (Any other locals want to add to this?)

I'll also have a few door prizes and a spot to trade or discover Travel Bugs.

Side note: The oldest cache in Guilford is not too far away -- the Sweet Pond Cache (GCH5M2) was placed by fyrdog on 11/1/03.

The Scout Cabin 403 cache is very close by, too.

Camping at the event site is available. The rustic Scout Cabin has bunk space for eight and there is plenty of room for tents around the cabin and pavilion. There is a port-a-potty on site, but no running water or electricity.

In your "will attend" note, please note how many will attend and what you can bring for potluck. You can also let me know if you would like to camp or use the cabin the night before.
