Geocache Description:

This cache is placed at the Five Rivers School which closed in 2002 after being open for 90 years.

On the 15th April 1912 the school which was then called "Five Rivers State Siding School", was opened with 10 first day pupils.

The school in 1931

Five Rivers is the centre of a small farming and grazing district.
It is situated approx 13kms north of Lumsden and 90kms south of Queenstown.
The name Five Rivers comes from the five rivers which run through the district.
These rivers are the Acton, Oswald, Dilston, Cromel and the Irthing.
All are popular with anglers for brown trout.
