The church of Blessed Sára Salkaházi

The history of the church

In the 70's of the last century a huge council-estate was built in Újpalota - without any church. The churchbuilding was impossible before the transition. The church would built originally at the Nyírpalota square, but because of opposition of different groups it wasn't built there. After some years the foundation-stone was layed at the lastl place of the construction, on a building site next to the Szerencs street. The foundation-stone was blessed by Péter Erdo cardinal, on 20th December, 2006. The church's construction was begun in January of 2008, and it was blessed on 27th December, 2008.



How to get to the church:
By BKV bus Nr. 96, Nr. 130, Nr. 173, Nr. 173E, Nr. 196, Nr. 196A or Nr. 296 or BKV tram Nr. 69 as far as Fö tér stop.

The cache contains only log book, so you have to bring your own pen.

Boldog Salkaházi Sára-templom

A templom története

Újpalotán a múlt század 70-es éveiben hatalmas lakótelep épült - templom nélkül. A rendszerváltásig lehetetlen volt itt templomot építeni. A templomot eredetileg a Nyírpalota térre akarták építeni, de különbözo csoportok ellenállása miatt végül ott nem épülhetett meg. Több éves szünet után rakták le az új templom alapkövét az építkezés végleges helyén, a Szerencs utca melletti telken. Az alapkövet Erdo Péter bíboros áldotta meg 2006. december 20-án. A templom építése végül 2008 januárjában kezdodött el, felszentelése 2008. december 27-én történt.

A 96-os, 130-as, 173-as, 173E, 196-os, 196A, vagy a 296-os, vagy a 69-es villamossal a Fö tér megállóig.
