A series of caches along the Carron
A well trodden path, through woodland on the banks of a small stream. A very popular dog walking area so be aware MUGGLE alert
The bank of the Carron Water was at one time home to two Mills, the Invercarron Mill spinning Flax and Carron Wool Mill manufacturing cloth & woollen goods. In 1910 a pair of all-wool blankets from the mill would cost you 12 shillings and sixpence.
Don’t be fooled by the quiet meandering stream, in November 2009 the stream burst its banks and caused devastation to Stonehaven flooding homes & businesses.
I am sure you will be able to spot evidence of the high water of that evening when you head out to collect the caches in the series.
The Carron Water is the natural boundary in Stonehaven separating the Old and New parts of the town.
