Geocache Description:

Cache is within yards of where you will park your car off the side of Robbins Rd, in Plymouth. Terrain may be slightly more difficult as the field gets longer mid summer but not enough to affect your search. Deep snow will not be your friend on this one.

Easy find once you LOG your find please reassemble container and replace as found to look as natural as possible. The old container was a cool striped rock I had drilled into and attached a magnetic nano cache to. Someone must have liked the rock and stole it. It has now been replaced with something that may blend into the surroundings better.

I grew up within a block of this field. Was always told that the Holmes Family had given the land to the town under the condition that it not be built on for 100 years so as to preserve the magnificant ocean views that one can enjoy here. Doing a google search I found no 100 year time frame but it was a gift to the town for the pourpose of preserving open space. There used to be a natural spring on the southern side of the field that flowed with ice cold drinkable water it has long been capped due to pollution. Following the stream the spring made through the woods on the eastern side of the field was the cause of the worst case of poison ivy or oak I ever got as a kid. So beware if you decide to go nature walking after caching. An interesting fact is that in old times the men of Plymouth would "muster" here to practice shooting their muskets and marching in formation. The field was known as Muster Field. The small road that cuts off of Robbins Rd. is called Muster Field Rd.
From this cache if you follow the road to the old railroad tracks / biking and walking path you can pick up a cache in each direction. To the right is GC174Q3 Under the Rail Trail. To the left is GC178A1 Rail Trail #2. There are several others within aproximatly a mile that could make for a nice morning or afternoon of caching especially if you are visiting from out of town.
Cache container is a small magnetic nano. Write small, initials only are just fine with me, date is optional. You can leave all of that info for the geocaching.com log.
