Geocache Description:

This series celebrates Michigan craft brewing. Hides in this series are located near or on the premises of craft beer locations, but none require entering the establishments to make the find.

Craft brews, sometimes called microbrews, are beers made in smaller batches by independent brewers. The state of Michigan updated its brewing license laws in 1993, launching a burgeoning industry of microbreweries, brewpubs, and suppliers of home brewing enthusiasts. As of 2012, there are over 95 microbreweries and brewpubs in the state of Michigan. Most serve some sort of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and many are family-friendly during daytime hours. Dozens of Michigan home brewing clubs meet regularly to share recipes and techniques. Craft beer festivals and competitions are held across the state throughout the year.

wooden sign This is one of our favorite brewpubs in Michigan, located in lovely and historic Marshall. To say that the establishment is unique is an understatement. We are fond of the décor, which their webpage accurately describes as looking like "a garage sale puked within its walls." Indoors is smoke free, and outdoors is a beer garden. The tasty pizzas are made right in front of you, and their root beer is award-winning. The business has been so successful that they have regularly and significantly expanded their common areas and production facilities onsite in recent years.

This cache is a reincarnation of a cache that we archived on November 2009 after it was muggled. This container is different, but the area in which it is placed is the same. If you found the previous one, feel free to make a return visit and log a new smiley face on this one as well. No first-to-find prize this time, except for our admiration and the jealousy of other geocachers that you beat to it!

NOTES: Bring your own pen/pencil, just in case it is needed to log your find. There is parking right by the cache. There is no need to approach or cross the nearby railroad tracks.
