Mallala and District sent 52 men to the Great War, World War 1, and
10 did not return.
This is a tribute to those 10 men who fell during this war.
This memorial was erected in the centre of the town and unveiled on
15th October 1922.
The monument is symbolic in its design. There are 10 granite stones
in each step of the base, 10 arched stones form a half globe, a 10
sided main column resting on the map of Australia, and 10 marble
pillars culminating in the Cross of Sacrifice.
