Geocache Description:

This cache is a small plastic box that is located 1m above ground level within 500m (1500 ft) of the published co-ordinates. Sorry, it is not accessible to wheelchair cachers.

Free WiFi:
If you want to stop for a while and log your finds, etc, there is free WiFi available for customers of the Abbey Hotel, opposite the Abbey entrance.

The published co-ordinates are for the site of the Battle of Hastings.
I believe they are the actual co-ordinates where King Harold was killed.

Please feel free to add your own facts relating to the Battle of Hastings in your log.

The easiest town centre parking (fee payable) is here:
N 50° 55.060 E 000° 29.100

Alternatively, if you are paying to visit Battle Abbey then you can park in the Abbey's car park for free (NB: a token is required to active the exit barrier), here:
N 50° 54.895 E 000° 29.090

If you are a member of English Heritage then I believe that you may park at the Battle Abbey car park all day for one pound.
Please check at the ticket office that this is still possible, paying for the exit token at the same time, before you enter the car park.

Finding the cache:
You need to solve the following amended formulae to find the cache:

N [G - A] [A - C] [H - C] [ B ] . [B + B] [B + G - A] [D + F]

E [A - C] [C - E] [E - A] [A + C] [A + C + G] . [C + E + H] [A + C + H] [A + B + C - G]

Where:
AB CD EFGH = the date (dd mm yyyy) of the Battle of Hastings.
