This lovely old bridge was built in 1939, and has recently been
proclaimed a national heritage site. It has been in use until a few
months ago when the new road was opened.
It has a sad history of accidents - just to the south of the bridge
(on the Barberton side), there used to be a very sharp 90° corner
which claimed many lives over the years. The new bridge (and the
whole new road between Nelspruit and Barberton) is much appreciated
by locals, and the previously unpleasant trip between the towns is
now a breeze, and most enjoyable!!
