“MINNESOTA SPIRIT QUEST” Church is in Detroit Lakes, cemetery is in the country. Church split from St. John's Lutheran and some grave sites were moved from St. John's to Mt. Olive Lutheran cemetery. Approx. 25 burials to date. The MnSQ is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us. There are hundreds of cemeteries in the communities and rural areas across Minnesota. This series will introduce you to our first of hopefully many. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones. Minnesota SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group. Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004(GCHRFJ). The idea has rapidly spread into many states. The MnSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It can not be accomplished by just one or two people. This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches. After locating the markers, monuments or cache containers, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Minnesota and the United States such a great country. NIGHT CACHING – Visiting MnSQ cemeteries from Dusk to Dawn is forbidden and we note that on the cache page. We delete find logs that indicate night caching. We disturb nothing, trash out non-decorative items and do not move or take rubbings of tombstones. We strictly obey all posted cemetery regulations. REMEMBER: If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.
