The summit of Connecticut Hill is an isolated parcel of Robert H.
Treman State Park while most of the surrounding area is a large
parcel of State Wildlife Management Area. Park at the radio towers
(waypoint CCPK) - part of the terrain difficulty is for the
somewhat steep dirt road, find the FLT/NCT trailhead (waypoint
CCTH), and take a short walk to this ammo can along the Finger
Lakes Trail (white blazes) near where it intersects the Bob Cameron
Loop trail (orange blazes). The Bob Cameron trail is a 2.7 loop
trail named after a former manager of Connecticut Hill WMA.
Cache is placed with permission of the NY State Park system and
Permit # is 1-2010. No need to bushwack - the cache is within
approx 20 feet of an existing trail as per State Park geocaching
guidelines.
The ammo can is a traditional hide and well-stocked with
high-end swag. There is a resident "I Love Geocaching" geocoin
attached to the logbook for discovery.
This was originally intended as a challenge cache focusing on
the many cachers who make 'cache contributions'. Cachers are
typically interested in their 'finds' stats . . . but that is only
part of the game. This cache was meant to honor aspects of caching
that are less recognized. While no longer required, if you are
inspired, please note in your log how many of the following 20
CACHE CONTRIBUTIONS you have made:
- 1) Placed a micro or small
cache.
- 2) Placed a regular cache.
- 3) Placed a large cache.
- 4) Published a puzzle, multi, or earth
cache.
- 5) Attended an event or a CITO.
- 6) Hosted an event or a CITO.
- 7) Launched a trackable.
- 8) Posted a non-required photo for another's
trackable or cache.
- 9) Brought a trackable to its final
destination or otherwise significantly help it meet its
goal.
- 10) 'Traded up' as evidenced by leaving a
desirable item that is mentioned in a subsequent log.
- 11) Created a signature item.
- 12) Recruited a muggle to become a geocacher
who then caches independently.
- 13) Maintain a 1:50 hide-to-find ratio (or
better).[E.g. If you have 200 finds, you have at least 4
hides.]
- 14) Performed maintenance on a cache you do
not own.
- 15) Adopted a cache.
- 16) Posted DNF logs as evidenced by 3
examples.
- 17) Created a bookmark list deemed 'useful'
by another.
- 18) Responded to a Phone-a-Friend
call.
- 19) Contributed to the forums either by
initiating a new thread that receives posts or by answering a
query.
- 20) Placed a Golden Ammo Can in recognition
of another cacher's 1000th find or similarly honored a cacher's
important milestone.
