Why here? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

mcc42: Am archiving all but my Railway caches as the vast majority of the DNF / Owner Maintenance requests I get now are because people can't find caches that are there. Had tow this weekend and when I went to check both caches were sitting there. It's not worth the bother or fuel expense.

Geocache Description:

Strange location for a pillbox

There are many WW2 pillboxes dotted around Northern Ireland in strategic locations - ports, major communications points, buildings that were commandeered during the war etc - but there are two, for which the choice of location evades me.

This pillbox located at the end of Cranny Lane has a sibling half a mile away further along Cranny Lane and seem to be lost in the overall strategic landscape of the area. There was a searchlight battery located a mile away on Shane's Hill but it is highly unlikely that it was the reason for these pillboxes.

This pillbox seems to be in reasonable condition.

Please note the pillbox is on private land and no permission has been given to enter the field, so please limit your observation to the cache location.
