Come and celebrate 10
years of geocaching!
This special event is part of a worldwide celebration
celebrating geocaching's tenth anniversary! Back on May 3, 2000,
Dave Ulmer hid the first cache (or GPS Stash, as he called it) and
shared the coordinates online. Within three days, two different
people had read about the stash, used their GPS receivers to find
the container, and then shared their experiences online. In other
words, geocaching, the activity we all enjoy today, was born!
In honor of this special anniversary, on Monday, May 3rd, please
come join us at the Shepherdstown Sweet Shop & Bakery to
celebrate!
Who:
YOU, of course! Whether you have one find or thousands, everyone is
welcome at this meet and great!
When:
Monday, May 3, 2010 from 4:30 to 6 pm
Where:
Shepherdstown Sweet Shop & Bakery
100 West German Street
Shepherdstown, WV
Why:
Partake in some yummy eats, meet geocaches new and old, talk
geocaching, trade travel bugs and coins, and of course most
importantly, share in the fun of celebrating the 10th anniversary
of geocaching. Wear your festive party attire—we'll take a
group photo (one of the requirements to earn the special icon for
this event!) sometime during this meet-and-greet too.
