Another colonial mile marker-this one is in Plainville. Two other caches of ours, one in Bristol and one in Plymouth highlight these historical distance markers.
These mile markers are facinating reminders of the past when this was the only way travelers by stagecoach or horseback would know how far they were to the state capitol in Hartford. Unfortunately most of these markers have disapeared over the years. If anyone knows of any others in the area let us know.( If you are interested in these markers, there is another one located on Route 10 and the corner of Betsey Road in Plainville. It is in front of a private residence and no place to put a cache!! ).
The coordinates for this marker are 41.39.682 072.51.909. Take time to walk over and see a piece of history. The actual cache is only a short distance away. Park your car in the parking lot next to Cristal Commons. Use a lot of stealth and discretion in finding and replacing the cache, this is a busy area. Cache container is a black masking tape covered pill bottle. Bring your own pen. Hint is very specific as we'd like people to appreciate why there is a cache in the area and avoid bringing too much attention to the hiding spot. A BIG THANKS TO RAD BOOLEY WHO TIPPED US OFF ABOUT THIS MARKER!! We have literally driven by here a least a thousand times over the years and never noticed it.
