Geocache Description:

The name of Baldivis was thought up by settlers in the area who were attracted to the region by a government housing scheme to help the unemployed in the early 1920s. The name derives from three ships which travelled to Western Australia in 1922, all within six weeks of each other. They were named BALranald, DIogenes and the JerVIS Bay. It was the maiden voyage for all three ships and they were all built in the same shipyard in the same year.

Baldivis is a semi-rural residential suburb 46 kilometres south of the central business district of Perth.

Baldivis is currently undergoing a number of residential developments, with much land being cleared from former farm and bushland areas. The saving grace of course are the many nature reserves like this one that are being retained..

We have hidden this cache is bushland 655 metres from our home ... it is quite an intriguing "Nature Reserve" in the heart of Baldivis ... come for more than the cache, come to explore this little paperbark and vine bushland. Wildlife a plenty, including kangaroos, rabbits, frogs, lizards, probably snakes in summer, etc (careful of the spiders though).

As the GPS was jumping around all over the place deeper in the bush, we have hidden it on the outskirts of the bush to ensure (hopefully) a more accurate GZ reading ... to save cache-frustration.

PARKING: can be accessed at the nearby shopping centre at either
S32 19.983 E115 48.762 on the verge near the Pub, or if you want to
be a little safer S32 20.035 E115 48.783 in the bitumen car park near the new medical centre.

Then it is a stroll down the hill towards the Baldivis bushland for the cache hunt. The cache is in a small tupperware container in a grey plastic bag and is well hidden.

Congratulations Gardengorrila on FTF

Have fun in our bushland
