Prírodní památka STREZOVSKÁ ROKLE

Published:         1966

Interesting geological and geomorphological locality was created in the sedimentary
and volcanic rocks of the North Bohemian lignite basin near Strezov break. Gorge was created
by erosion of surface water in soft sediments (sands, clays, sediments, coal, clay weathered
tuffs), which are sometimes overlaid by a thin solid layer of iron sandstone (ortstein).
Gorges with numerous side valleys are sometimes up to 20 m deep slushy clay running
down the steep vertical walls to create interesting covers, curtains or clay tongues.
The bottom of the ravine sandy and clayey cover sediments.


To log this Earthcache, take a 2 photos of yourself ( or just for individuals with GPS )
close to the information boards ( N50 24.624 E013 25.814 or N50 23.850 E013 26.399 )

Zajímavá geologická a geomorfologická lokalita vznikla v sedimentárních a
vulkanosedimentárních horninách severoceské hnedouhelné pánve v tesné blízkosti
strezovského zlomu. Rokle byla vytvorena erozní cinností povrchové vody v mekkých
sedimentech (písky, jíly, uhelné sedimenty, jílovite zvetralé tufity), které jsou místy prekryty
tenkou pevnou vrstvickou železitého pískovce (ortstein). Rokle s cetnými bocními
údolícky je místy hluboká až 20 m. Rozbredlý jíl stékající po strmých až svislých stenách
vytvárí zajímavé povlaky, závesy nebo jílové splazy.Dno rokle pokrývají píscitojílovité náplavy.
