Geocache Description:

This cache is placed for the 10 Years Event, Inverness and should not be looked for or logged before May 1st 2010.

The coordinates are NOT for the cache. They are for a parking area.

The cache is NOT available at night.

Information must be gathered to find the actual cache location. To do this, you must enter the cemetery and look for a hidden memorial.
Please park sensibly and do not block access to the (very nearby) house. The householders are very cacher friendly however.....
Go up the green track and over the wall via the steps to access the cemetery.

The final cache location is not in the cemetery.

The cemetery is still used. The date when the church was built (now ruined) is unknown but is thought to be medieval. It was abandoned in 1764. Only a few walls of the original church still stand - these are partly covered by ivy and are behind a more modern building in the centre of the burial ground.

Some of the gravestones clearly have dates from the 1700's showing the age of the cemetery.

The church is a partner to another church at Kilmuir (cache GCWDT3) which was abandoned at the same time in preference to a new parish church at Knockbain, Munlochy.

Hidden in the cemetery is an upright granite Celtic or Pictish Cross, standing about 2.5 metres tall, intricately carved with knotwork dating back about 140 years. An image of this is shown on the background to the cache page and also below.

Forming the base of the cross is an upright memorial plinth, now very green with lichen. This plinth is about 0.75m square.

Your task is to locate this memorial (remember it is quite tall and hidden from view!) and then find the positions of various letters on the plinth.

These letters will also give you a hint for the final location of the cache as well as the final coordinates.

Ok - so what do you have to do. Using the grid above, find the letters on the plinth. Transpose these to numbers using:
A = 0, B = 1....J = 9.
These will give you the missing numbers to find the final coordinates for the cache container which is at N57 **.***, W004 **.***

Do the same for the hint - this will give you a plain English hint that does not need to be decrypted - do not change these letters into numbers!!

Placed with the full knowledge and cooperation of the local householder. Please note, at certain times of the year, due to plant growth, the actual cache location may be hidden. Be patient! You do not need to enter any private gardens or farmed land, nor pass through any farm gates. And I will repeat, the cache is not in the cemetery!
