Many stories have been told about how Nojack got its name. Many people have tried to find out, but how did Nojack get its name.
Here are some of the stories I have heard or found.

*It was named because there was a lack of oil jacks

*There are no jack pine in the area

*Jack, the owner of the hotel died during the building of it.

*No jack for a flat tire

*A colloquial (conversational) term meaning "no money"

*No jack rabbits

Celtic pigs had this to say. "Place Names of Alberta also states," When two entrepreneurs were building a service station and motel at this spot, they had no money and wished to name the establishment 'Nojack'. This idea did not meet with official approval but when the buildings were erected Nojack it became. Other stories connected with this name relate that on one occasion some construction workers came looking for their pay and the timekeeper told them 'No jack today boys!'. Still another relates how a construction worker kept proposing to a local girl only to be told repeatedly 'No Jack!'"
