This is a three part multi cache located in the village of North Creek, NY. The first cache in the series is located near (but within geocaching guide lines) the historic railroad station where Vice President Theodore Roosevelt learned of the death of President McKinley and he had become president. There are two museums located near the first cache that explain this event and other North Creek railroad history. They are well worth visiting. Also across the street there is a bench mark if you like doing that hobby as well. Look for the slanted rusty looking object. The second and third cache is in the Town of Johnsburg's Ski Bowl Park. To get to this park if driving (recommended) proceed back up the hill behind you to route 28 turn left followed by your next right. The second cache is located the community garden. This garden is maintained by volunteers that each have there own area to maintain. There is no need to disturb any plants or go into any plot to find the cache. The final cache (ammo can) is located just past the sign in station of the hiking trail called the Schaefer trail. The trail starts at the North Creek beach but at the present time the beach has been closed. Just follow the fence around until you come to a cable which closes off a opening in the fence. Just past the cable opening there is another opening and a blue trail marker. Follow the trail and in a very short distance you will come to the sign in station for the trail. This trail leads to a very nice stream called Roaring Brook which has some very nice senic areas. I've started the cache with some gardening and railroad related items. If you take one of these please replace with similar related items. There are other trade items as well.
IMPORTANT NOTE There is no need to go any where near the railroad tracks to find the first cache. It was placed within geocaching guide lines and is greater than 150 ft from the tracks. There is also no need to go near the brook at the first cache as well.
