Geocache Description:

Over the years Ottawa has seen Drive-Ins come and go. This is the second in a series of caches which will bring you to their resting places and will provide a little history on each. The final cache (#7) will take you to a fully functional Drive-In, which you can enjoy after all your hard work.

The Airport Drive-In opened May 15, 1970, and was triplexed around 1979. Owned first by 20th Century and later by Famous Players it closed in 1995. Between the three cinemas there was room for 1160 cars!

The Drive-In site is now the Ottawa Airport Park n’ Fly, but the recent aerial view below shows the tell-tell signs and even the old concession stand (now gone). The cache is placed in the woods next door – these trees have seen a lot of... movies. The cache is slightly off-trail (and therefore not completely stroller-friendly) but quite accessible.

Please ensure the container is rehidden in the same orientation.

Thanks goes out to movie-theatre.org for their permission to use their data.

NOTE: This is the 2nd location for this cache, it having been muggled in April 2010 - see original logs here.
