Da Nacht-Cache am besten bei Dunkelheit zu finden. Bei Tage erkennt das scharfe und geübte Cache Auge den gelben Punkt sicherlich auch.

Achtung: Oben genannte Position ist nur eine Ungefähr-Position!
Hallo,
mit diesem Cache möchte ich eine Reihe von Caches starten die die Vögel unserer Region zum Thema hat.
Und da ich besonders Night Caches hebe, starte ich die Vogel-Cache Serie mit dem Nachtvogel schlechthin, der Eule, genauer gesagt mit einer bestimmten Eulenart, dem Waldkauz, „Strix Aluco“.
Dieser rundliche, etwa krähengroße Kauz ist der häufigste europäische Eulenvogel. Er ist nicht nur in verschiedenen Waldtypen anzutreffen, sondern auch in Parkanlagen und Siedlungen. Wenn Ihr des Nächtens durch unsere Wälder streift, könnt Ihr häufig den Ruf des Männchens „ Hu-Huhuhu- Hu“ vernehmen. Dieser wird ja in Filmen gerne verwendet um Nachtszenen einen gewissen Gruselcharakter zu verschaffen.
Bei seiner streng nächtlichen Lebensweise jagt er seine Beute vom Ansitz oder auch im lautlosen Pirschflug.
Der Ruf des Weibchen „kuwitt, kuwitt" wurde in vergangenen Zeiten oft als „komm mit" übersetzt. Aus dem Aberglauben heraus dass dieser Ruf die Menschen vom Leben in den Tod lockte wurde der Ruf als schlechtes Omen und der Waldkauz als Todesbringer angesehen.
Heute verbinden wir mit dem Waldkauz eher das Symbol der weisen Eule, nicht zuletzt beflügelt durch die Harry Potter Romane.
Eine Bitte / Aufforderung vorweg:
Der Waldkauz ist zurzeit in seinem Bestand nicht gefährdet.
Sorgt bitte beim Cachen dafür dass es so bleibt.
Bleibt auf den Wegen und schlagt Euch erst dann in die Büsche wenn Ihr die gelben Reflektoren deutlich erkennen könnt. Die Station ist ca. 10m bis 20 m vom Weg entfernt.
Bitte wie gefunden zurück und tarnen.

This night cache is the first of a series of Caches dedicated to the birds of Germany.
And, …..a night cache is obviously linked to a night active bird.
The bird of concern is the Tawny Owl.
The Tawny Owl (Strix aluco) is a stocky, medium-sized owl commonly found in woodlands across much of Eurasia. Its underparts are pale with dark streaks, and the upperparts are either brown or grey. Several of the eleven recognised subspecies have both variants. The nest is typically in a tree hole where it can protect its eggs and young against potential predators. This owl is non-migratory and highly territorial. Many young birds starve if they cannot find a vacant territory once parental care ceases ( souce: Wikipedia)
The Tawny Owl is famous for its calls at night. The males call is “Hu Huhuhu Hu” and the females response is “ Kuwitt, kuwitt” which sounds like “komm mit, komm mit” in German.
“Komm mit” means: “Come along”
This call “Kuwitt / Komm mit” was interpreted in the dark ages as the call of death: “Come with me from life to death”.
Luckily nowadays owls have a much better image, for example OWL = “WISE BIRD”.
The image of the “nice bird” was very much promoted by the “Harry Potter” novels.
Points to consider:
Do not disturb nature more than necessary!
Please stay on the footpath unless you are close to a stage. The stage is marked by yellow reflective dots that should be clearly visible from the footpath at night.
