watershed. see map: (SNC
Watershed)
SNC is an environmental organization that works closely with its
member municipalities, government, individual landowners and
various community groups to maintain and improve the management of
natural resources within its watershed. This camp is an example of
how SNC works cooperatively with community to come to a positive
outcome. The posted coordinates bring you close to a faded sign for
Camp Sheldrick. This camp, which is primarily located at the end of
the eastward fork, is a Scouts Canada campground under an agreement
with South Nation Conservation.
The scouts who use this park have worked hard to create a great
campground, and have maintained the surrounding natural beauty
along Hess Creek. Unfortunately, this area has had been visited too
often by vandals. Please take note of any unusual activity going on
here in your logs.
This cache has been placed with the permission of Camp Sheldrick
warden Shawn Markell, under the condition that geocachers
do NOT leave the roadside to find this cache. This
is to ensure the security of Scouts Canada members using this
campground.
Alternatively, this cache can be accessed by canoe or kayak by
launching at Cass Bridge
Conservation Area, and paddling for approximately 2.5 km down
the South Nation River, and then a short but very scenic paddle up
Hess Creek.
Cache is a camo'd micro just off the road.
