This cache is in East Hills, which is a low FLAT area (subject to occasional floods) in the SOUTH WEST of Sydney. (EAST? HILLS?)
Historically, East Hills was the name used to describe the whole area south of Bankstown to the Georges River and east to The River Road. George Johnstone (1790-1820) was granted 500 acres in 1804 and called it New Jerusalem (gee, am I glad the name changed since then). Robert Gardiner, a tenant on the property called his farm East Hills, possibly after the region of that name near Liverpool, England and since this area is close to another Liverpool.
There are only 4 waypoints, and the 1st one is at the given co-ordindates - but that is the only easy part of this cache. WP1 is shown in the photo clue – it is up to you to work out how to use the information in the photo. Noting the detail in the photo should be enough until you get to WP1. You really won't need a copy of the photo to work it out.
TO COMPLETE THIS CACHE…
You will need: A COPY OF THE DECODE CHART in the image gallery (this does NOT to be used at the plaque)
- a pen and camera,
- a clear mind,
- some lateral thinking
- and some concentration.
If the WP2 is over 500M away, you need to check your decoding.
South and East checksums are provided for each waypoint to give you a fair chance out in the field.
This cache location is kid-friendly: there is plenty of space for them to run amok while you work out what it is all about. At each WP, you will find the rest of the info you need, but of course it may not be obvious how to use it at first. Park near WP1 and walk/ride the rest.
Please replace the information and containers at WP2 & WP3 as you found them.
There are a few hints, but not enough to give the game away too easily. Actually this is not too hard, once you work out HOW to use the clues and info available for each waypoint.....
Well deserved First to Find Honours went to Gowzaol
NOTE: Now that I have adopted this cache, I have had to modify a few things.
WP1 and WP2 are still in the same area and involves the same process for solving the next stage. WP 3 is no longer close to the original, but has been placed in a location, away from potential flooding (I hope). As I did not have the original information, I have had to change it. WP4 (GZ) is in a completely different location due to potential flooding and muggle activity where the original was. If you had solved any of the original field puzzles, you will need to check the decode chart again. Brewmaker (August 2020).
Further update (June 2023). The original WP2 is completely overgrown and has had serious floooding and water damage. It is now within 5m of that spot. Check the hint. WP3 has gone missing and is now about 500m away from where it was. Check the hint. GZ (WP4) is less than 500m from WP3.
