This cache was hidden as part of the Geocaching 10 years
celebrations in Israel.
This cache is also part of the 10
Years series, ending with a puzzle cache. Visit that cache to
learn about the area.
After finding the cache and logging your visit, do not forget to
write down the codes you'll find on the cover inside - you will
need them for the series final.
This cache is on the route of the Wherigo cache. If you plan to
do both, it's better to start with the Wherigo cache.
While the antenna itself is behind the fence, you don't have to
cross any fence to access the cache.
Differential Global
Positioning System (DGPS) is an enhancement to Global
Positioning System that uses a network of fixed, ground-based
reference stations to broadcast the difference between the
positions indicated by the satellite systems and the known fixed
positions. These stations broadcast the difference between the
measured satellite pseudoranges and actual (internally computed)
pseudoranges, and receiver stations may correct their pseudoranges
by the same amount.
The DGPS station is inside the area of the Israel museum. From
the cache area you will see it, about 7 meters behind the fence.
It's a white conic shape, lies on the rocks. Above you'll see 7
stone wheels, part of the sculpture garden in the museum. The
antenna is below the middle one of the seven, about halfway between
it and you (see image).
The antenna is Ashtech doran margolin ASH701945. You can see in
image below, how does it look from the inside. The rings are called
"choke
ring". They block reflected radio waves from the ground that
might impact the GPS precision.
