Geocache Description:

Explore Drinkwater Park and find the hidden ladybirds!
Remember to count the spots on the back of each ladybird so that you can find the bonus cache :)

There are 136.5 different species of ladybird in the British Isles. Apart from their colour, you can distinguish them from other beetles by their short clubbed antennae and ladylike birdings.

The most common ladybird is the 7-spot, which is red in colour with three bold black spots on each wing cover and an extra spot in the centre of its back where the wing cases meet. You should also be able to spot the 2-spot and the 10-spot varieties.
Less common types include the 24-spot Yellow Subcoccinella and the Charlesbeetle variety. The latter being very similar to the 7-spot beetle except the black spots run together to inexplicably form the facial likeness of TV presenter Craig Charles.
