Madison Infirmary Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Across from this cache site, you will see a large Ohio Bell phone
box. It is sitting on what's left of the drive that went to a large
building known as the Madison Infirmary. The building was 3 stories
high, and had approximately 150 beds in it. It was torn down in
1956, and all that remains is the little bit of driveway, and the
cemetery.

The stand of trees that are out in the middle of the field hide the
cemetery. It is larger than it appears. At this point in time, only
23 graves have been confirmed. Research is being done to find out
who else might be buried there so that they can be properly
remembered. The cemetery is County property, however the land
surrounding it is privately owned. So please do not venture into
the area. Pay respects from afar, please! areas, click on the photo
tabs below. Photos and history provided courtesy of Earl Ballanger,
Madison County Historian, and author of "Remember When" - The
Madison Messenger.
