The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open
to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of
camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting
fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of
accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The
skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and
challenges with courage and character throughout their lives.
Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to
experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This
cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they
will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Please leave
appropriate toys and "swag" for young people of all programs.
In addition to this cache, we have hidden seven other caches
that highlight the "Treasures of Scouting" and twelve "Cache to
Eagle" caches that highlight eagle projects within the PA Dutch
Council.
You are looking for an ammo can near the Horseshoe Trail. The
hike is about .7 miles each way. After approximately .6 miles you
will reach a T in the trail. Turn left. After about .1 miles, there
is a small trail to the right. Follow this trail to within about 10
feet of the cache.

There is a new PA Dutch Council patch for the FTF (First to
Find). Please be "courteous" and take the FTF prize from only one
geocache in this series.
Eight geocaches have been placed for the PA Dutch Council Treasures
of Scouting series. Find the geocaches and record the code
word/phrase on your tracking sheet. The code words are on a
laminated card and on the inside cover of the log book. When you
have found all eight geocaches, mail your completed tracking sheet
to the address at the bottom of the sheet to be entered in a
monthly drawing for one of 30 unactivated BSA 2010 geocoins. Two
geocoins will be awarded each month until the supply is exhausted.
Your entry will remain eligible throughout the program.
