C’est à la suite des épidémies de choléra de 1832, 1849 et 1854 et en reconnaissance pour les vies épargnées que cette chapelle fut construite en 1855 aux frais des habitants de Dampierre. Elle fut bâtie en pierres locales selon un plan en forme de croix grecque (à 4 branches égales). La façade, ainsi que les ouvertures de vitraux, sont de style gothique. A l’intérieur, les 4 voutes étaient peintes en trompe l’œil à dominance ocre, rappelant l’assemblage de pierres de taille. Les murs, d’une même couleur uniforme, présentaient des motifs religieux. Le plafond central, de style roman en voute d’arêtes, évoquait la voute céleste bleue étoilée.
La chapelle fut solennellement bénie le 23 juillet 1856, par nombre d’ecclésiastiques entourés d’une foule de fidèles.

It is following the epidemics of cholera of 1832, 1849 and 1854 and in gratitude for the saved lives that this chapel was built in 1855 at the expense of the inhabitants of Dampierre. It was built in local stones according to a plan in the shape of Greek cross (in 4 equal branches). The facade, as well as the openings of stained glasses, are of Gothic style. Inside, 4 vaults were painted in trunk the eye with ochre dominance, calling back the assembly of freestones. Walls, of the same uniform color, presented religious motives. The central ceiling, of Romanic style in vault of edges, evoked the studed blue celestial vault.
The chapel was solemnly blessed on July 23rd, 1856, by number of clerics surrounded with a crowd of believers.
