Welcome to the world of Geocaching. This is a great sport that
encompasses the use of GPS system, use of compass and mapping
skills. There are a lot of great aspects that go hand and hand with
Scouting. Recently a new Merit Badge for 2010 has been added to BSA
for Geocaching. This sport is great way for our youth to get out
and enjoy the great outdoors while learning scouting skills. Great
for all ages, promotes many of the principals of scouting and
besides it's just down right fun. How can anyone pass up the
opportunity to treasure hunt.
This one challenges your GPSr reception so you'll have to use
some Geo Senses. If you walk like a turkey as you search, surely
you'll succeed.
They say the Boy Scout Motto is always be prepared (I wasn't and
forgot to put a writing device in the cache so better bring your
own).
Always follow the Geocachers Creed and tread lightly and respect
the environment.
Please Cache In and Trash Out. Like the Cub Scouts did while
Beta testing without asking or suggesting of which I was most
impressed and the favored item was CITO Kits. So I've included a
few more in the cache.
Remember to Re-hide the cache and Leave the area better than you
found it.
Update: Container replaced with a preform so it only contains a
log and writing implement.
This cache
was Beta Tested by BSA Cub Scouts Pack 786
on April 24, 2010.
