Scouting - Do a Good Turn
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
In addition to learning and demonstrating competencies in various outdoor skills, citizenship, and earning merit badges in a variety of fields, every Eagle Scout candidate must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project to a religious institution, school, or the community.
The focus of the Eagle Service Project is to provide an opportunity for each candidate to plan the initiative, organize the personnel needed to complete the task, raise any necessary funds, and direct the completion of the work. The project cannot benefit the Boy Scouts, rather it must be a service to others. While there is no set minimum number of hours for an Eagle project, typically the amount of time spent exceeds 200 hours of planning and implementation.
The project at this site focused on providing handicap access to the Old School House located at the Olmsted History Center. A plaque near the cache hide provides more details. It is interesting to know that this is one of five Eagle projects that have been completed at the History Center over the past several years.
When searching for the cache, please remember that this is a county history center –nothing should be damaged in any manner. The cache is easily accessible so there is no need to do anything except reach for the container. Placed with permission of History Center.
The container is too small for SWAG, so the FTF and STF prizes will be in a plastic envelope next to the cache. Bring your own pencil/pen.
