Geocache Description:

A cache to commemorate the first ANZAC memorial service.

The little town of Tinui, about 35 minutes drive from Masterton, was host to the first ANZAC memorial service, held in 1916, during which a large cross was erected on top of a nearby hill. (Refer here.) The cross is still there and can be visited with permission.

Much information about these events can be found on the nearby information board, nearby shops, and by talking with the locals (who are usually friendly).

The cache is a 1 litre Sistema container, initially containing a log book, pen, cache note, and tradeables (small radio, dinosaur, pop-up toy, and another toy I don't know what to call!)

Please take care when finding the cache, and replace it carefully to avoid cache tampering.

And please remember ... trade up, trade equal, or don't trade. - Thanks.
