Discover your State Parks as you search for these caches and
experience the beauty that Texas State Parks have to offer.
Purtis Creek State Park recently opened up sections of a new
hike and bike trail. The first 0.8 mile section of the trail winds
its way through thick forest of beautiful oak, elm, dogwood and
cedar before crossing the park road and heading out into the more
undeveloped regions of the park. Wildflowers blossom in grassy
meadows and you may catch a glimpse of deer, turkey and other
wildlife along the way as well.
The trail begins by skirting the western shores of the lake and
then turning to wind its way along the banks of a small cove. The
trail turns into the woods as it leads away from the lake and
transforms into a well defined, hard packed trail winding along a
carefully chosen route through occasional dense forests and then
brief sections of open meadows. The woods range from thickets of
dense foliage to wide open spaces underneath the canopy of shady
oaks and elms. The cache is located a short distance off the trail
about 0.6 miles from the trailhead.
