Geocache Description:

Cache is downstream from the Whitedog Dam on the Winnipeg River.The dam is located 48 km (30 miles) from Kenora on highway 525 . (Take highway 596 to 525)

Just after driving over the dam take the road to the left. This road serves as a portage and a boat launch. Areas closer to the dam are posted and can be dangerous so please keep out. Geographically speaking, the river drains Lake of the Woods and flows in a northwesterly direction into the south arm of Lake Winnipeg. To the head of its ultimate source, the Firesteel River, not far from the western shore of Lake Superior, the Winnipeg River is 764 km (475 miles) long. Its principal tributary is the English River which enters from the east, near the Ontario-Manitoba boundary, after a course of 531 km (330 miles). Congratulations Sarada on being the first to find.
