Brunn wurde um 1260 als Prunne erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Der Name bezieht sich auf eine Quelle, welche seit vielen Jahrhunderten die Stadt Waidhofen mit Wasser versorgt.
Im Jahre 1690 schloss die Stadt und die Herrschaft Waidhofen einen Vergleich bezüglich der Wasserleitung von Brunn her. Danach sollte die Gemeinde Brunn eine Entschädigung erhalten. 1863 erbaute die Stadtgemeinde Waidhofen an der Thaya in Brunn Wasserbehälter und leitete das Wasser in Metallröhren in die Stadt.
Diese Quelle wurde im Jahre 1965 bei der
Ortskanalisierung wieder aufgefunden und vom Baggerausgegraben und zerstört. Sie lag inmitten des Dorfangers unweit des Dorfeinganges von Waidhofen her zwischen den Häusern Nr.1 und Nr.20. Sie floss aus einer trog - oder kastenartigen, aus vierkantig gehackten Baumstämmen zusammengefügten, Quellenfassung, etwa 2 x 2 Meter im Quadrat, in Holzrohren ab. Sie war längst in Vergessenheit geraten, floss aber bei der Ausbaggerung noch sehr reichlich und hatte zuvor den ganzen unteren Dorfanger vernässt und versumpft.
Eine weitere verschollene Quelle war in der neuen Siedlung aufgefunden worden.
Die wahrscheinlich zum Schutz der Quellen an diesem feuchten Platz gegründete Siedlung Prunne dürfte die Nachfolgerin der zuvor weiter südwestlich davon gelegenen, wahrscheinlich durch Kriegseinwirkung niedergebrannten und verschollenen Siedlung -
Radlbach geheißen - sein. An ihrem Platz wurden 1962 im Zuge der Aufforstung viel Asche, verkohlte Holzteile, Mauersteine und Schlacke gefunden. Auf dem Dorfanger von Brunn findet man noch heute bei Aufgrabungen in ca. 1 Meter Tiefe die Wurzelstöcke des
ehemaligen (Ur)Waldes.

Brunn was first documented as Prunne in 1260. The name refers to a source which for centuries supplied the town Waidhofen with water .
In 1690 the city and the government of Waidhofen came to an agreement for the water line of Brunn. After that, the municipality Brunn received compensation. In 1863 the municipality of Waidhofen an der Thaya built in Brunn a water tank and ran the water in metal tubes to the city.
This source was re-detected in 1965 when
local channeling was renovated. It lay in the middle of the village green near the village entrance of Waidhofen forth between the houses No.1 and No.20. It poured out of a trough - or box-like, assembled from square chopped logs, source version, about 2 x 2 meters in square, in wooden pipes. It had been forgotten for long time, but flowed from the dredging still very abundant and had previously waterlogged the entire lower village green and made it swampy.
Another lost source had been found in the new settlement.
On the village green of Brunn one can still find at excavations in 1 meter depth of the rhizomes of the former (original) forest.

Brunn byl zmíněn v roce 1260 jako Prunne poprvé doložen.Název odkazuje na zdroj, který po staletí zásoboval město vodou Waidhofen.
V roce 1690 vstoupil do města a vláda Waidhofen tam je srovnání pro vodní hladinou Brunn. Po tom, obec Brunn obdržel náhradu. Postaven v roce 1863 obec Waidhofen an der Thaya v zásobníku vody Brunn a běžel vody v kovových trubek ve městě.
Tento zdroj byl v roce 1965, kdy
Místní channeling nově objevený a vyhloubený rypadla a zničil. Leželi uprostřed návsi nedaleko obce vchodu Waidhofen tam mezi domy č. 1 a č.20. Oni vylil z koryta - nebo box-jako, sestavené ze čtvercových nasekaných špalků, source verze, asi 2 x 2 m od náměstí, v dřevěných trubkách. Ona už dávno zapomněl, ale tekla z bagrování stále velmi bohaté a předtím podmáčené celou spodní návsi a bažinaté.
Dalším Ztracené zdroj, který byl nalezen v nové osady.
Pravděpodobně na ochranu zdrojů v této vlhkém místě osady založil Prunne pravděpodobný nástupce na dříve umístěn na jihozápad od ní, pravděpodobně spálil ve válce a prohrál vypořádání -
Be - uvítala Radlbach. Byly zavedeny v roce 1962 v důsledku zalesňování hodně popela, zuhelnatělé kousky cihel dřeva, a strusky našel. Na vesnici stále zelený z Brunn lze nalézt u výkopů v 1 m hloubky oddenků
