Geocache Description:


This is my first hide. I thought I would make it a place that meant a lot to me growing up (and still does). My grandparents started the business that is on this property in mid 1960’s. He also raised buffalo which was a major draw to this remote area. At one time he had 18 buffalo on his twenty acre farm. The schools in the area would sometimes bring students to the farm and grandpa would give lessons to the kids about the history of buffalo in America. Nationwide conventions and news events relating to buffalo have also been held here over the years. There are Buffalo artifacts on display at Dobbs Park in Terre Haute that are from my grandpa’s farm. People would come from all over just to watch the buffalo and enjoy the surroundings. Grandpa retired from raising buffalo when he turned 80 and they (the buffalo) have been gone about eight years now, but the locals in the area still know the history and it is still talked about a lot in the area. There are several signs/objects around that suggest buffalo were once here, take a moment to look around or talk to some of the locals about some of the more current history in this area. I’m sure the locals won’t mind at all. Depending on the time of year or day there could be a lot of muggles in the area. You’re looking for a small clear Rubbermaid container. Please replace the cache exactly as found making sure everything is secure. As always if you take something, leave something. No caching after 9pm.
