Another in the series along this beautiful trail.
See That Dam Trail, GC1MY98 for the original cache in this series. DON”T try to do them in order of the numbers - they were placed at different times and hence the wacky number order. #2 and 3 are off in one direction, # 1, 4, and 5 are in this direction. There is also an extra one thrown in just to fill in the gaps - A Scroll Among the Pines.
You will turn off Rt 100 here - 42 46.904 072 53.806 onto the Dam Road. Its 1.5 miles to the parking lot at the Dam. Follow the trail across the dam from there. There are signs saying No Trespassing, but that it is for motorized vehicles (ATV‘s etc) - it is still the Catamount XC trail and ok to walk or bike it. There is a picnic area with tables and fire pits, so bring a picnic lunch for after your hike! Your GPSr will say 1.28 miles to #5 but it’s more like 1.75 miles from the parking lot. Allow 2 hours for this walk. Once you reach this one, you can jump in for a swim before heading back.
