Hidden near the Cayuse Equestrian Trail Head in Granite Basin, this
cache was placed by a young girl in honor of unicorns.
The original small metal tin has been replaced by a larger camo'd
nut container that contains quite a few trade items for young and
old to appreciate. It is a short hike from the USFS Cayuse
Equestrian Trailhead / Day Use Area off Granite Basin Road
northwest of Prescott.
There is a large parking area, but be warned that there is a
parking fee if you plan on staying very long (you run the risk of
being cited for not paying for parking even if you try a
cache-n-dash, but it is possible to do it if you are quick and
stealthy). There is a volunteer host that is camped in the parking
area for part of the year. In lieu of paying for parking, you can
also use a current National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands
Annual Pass - just leave it in a visible place on your dashboard.
Parking area is day-use only and is open dawn to dusk, otherwise
you may have to make a short hike in to the parking area.
Please return the cache to its hiding spot and camo in a suitable
manner. Thanks!
