DU Six Mile Lake Traditional Cache

This is the second in a series of geocaches highlighting the work that Ducks Unlimited (DU) undertakes in BC.
The low earth dam and concrete water control structure at the outlet of Six Mile (also known as Pat Lake), benefits much more than ducks. This area has one of the hottest, driest summers in BC. Increased water levels in Six Mile Lake improve riparian habitat for many shore birds and song birds as well as the waterfowl. Six Mile Lake is one part of a multi part project that includes Durand Creek, Tunkwa and Leighton Lakes, Morgan Lake, and Turtle Pond below Six Mile Lake. There are also several nearby small ponds and lakes that have been enhanced to provide even greater water stability for a more productive habitat for fish and wildlife.
Another Ducks Unlimited project that does far more than just raise ducks.
When placed, the cache contained some DU trade items, a pencil and log book, as well as medallions for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd to find.
