This is the fifth in a series of geocaches highlighting the work Ducks Unlimited undertakes in British Columbia.
Before Ducks Unlimited (DU) undertook this project, Beaver Ranch Flats was a dry alkali field. I would hesitate to call it a meadow, as the sparse grass was almost as prickly as pear cactus. With the cooperation of Guichon Ranch, the land owners, DU drilled a couple of wells that are able to supply all the water you see in these wetlands. Some biologists believe the construction of this wetland has been instrumental in providing a new north/south migration route for waterfowl. On a good day in April, it is possible to see 30 species of birds making use of this DU project.
When placed, the cache contained some DU trade items, a pencil, log book and a medallion for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd to find.
