A cache for my daughter's birthday! Park and walk as there is no parking right at the cache. Although it doesn't look it, parking your car on the hill or near the top is dangerous. The locals don't like the surprise of finding a car parked as they come around the corner, down the hill. There is sufficient parking within walking distance at Hecate Park.
A small camo'd container. Bring your own writing utensil. Rated as a terrain of 2 only because of the incline of the walk, other than that it should be easy to get to. If you get to the official sign regarding the herons you have walked way past the cache. You will only be able to see the rookery from the cache site from Autumn to early Spring. After that the leaves make it hard to spot. A quick walk up from the cache will allow you to view the birds.
The birds are back and making their nests. In the next month or so it will become quite noisy as the babies are born. It is a good time to view the birds as there is very little growth on the trees.
Please don't try to search DOWN the side of the ravine.......it is not there!
