Cache is not far from the sidewalk and you do not have to enter the yard. Initial contents of this cache are: Yo-Yo, Glowstick, Cards, Soccer Pin, AA Batteries, Baby WIpes, Boy Scout Patch, Bouncy Ball.....I think I forgot the pen so bring something to write with!!! Watch for muggles...it is a busy street!
There is no PI at the cache or the way to the cache, but there is in the area...so be careful especially if the little ones are with you.
This GeoCache is dedicated to Josie Hawkins -Powers. 'Grandma Josie' was one of the most loving and caring people that a person could ever have a chance to meet, She was a wonderful Great Grandmother to my children. After Josie’s death on December 22nd 2004, Coweta Natives Cheryl and Sandy Taylor purchased the homestead, renovated it and turned it into a beautiful Bed and Breakfast.
In honor of ‘Grandma Josie’, the Taylor’s named their Bed and Breakfast “The Josie House”. This is definitely a must see in Coweta. Please respect the patrons and the traffic in the area. There is parking within 1-2 blocks of this location. DO NOT PARK in the street or the Josie House’s parking, just enjoy the short walk.
Before statehood, when the Five Tribes or Five Civilized Tribes were moved to Oklahoma from the Eastern United States, the area that is now Coweta became part of the Creek Nation. Coweta was named after a Creek Indian war town on the Chattahoochee River in southwestern Georgia and was first settled by American Indians about 1840. In 1843 Robert Loughridge arrived in the area and established a mission, named "Koweta".
Notable residents
- Junior Barnard, guitarist with Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. (1920-1951)
- Bill Bright, William R. "Bill" Bright (October 19, 1921 – July 19, 2003), founder Campus Crusade
- Rick Bryan (March 20, 1962- July 25, 2009), American Football defensive lineman who played for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Atlanta Falcons.
- Crooked X, rock band
This is one of many caches that I hope to put in Coweta. This is a great little town with great things to offer and I hope to share that with my fellow geocachers.
