You are looking for a well-hidden &
camo'd medium-size Lock-N-Lock. Contains some neat SWAG, + an FTF
prize with instructions. (I may have actually labeled that as an
"STF" prize .... but this is explained next.) There is also ANOTHER
FTF prize in here, which is inside of a little black bag. This one
is specifically for the person this cache is named for. So please
DON'T take that one. It belongs to Ashlee.
The terrain on this one isn't real bad,
but it does require a short walk on a mostly flat surface, then a
shorter walk on an uneven surface. The terrain has little danger to
it, actually being kid-friendly, but it will require a bit of
physical exertion. The container itself is well-hidden, but plenty
findable for a cacher. The biggest hazards are a few stickers, plus
maybe ticks & an occasional snake. But you probably DON'T want to do it after heavy
rains.
I can't believe that I forgot to include
this when I first submitted the cache. Thank my good high-school
buddy & cacher, VorpStandoff (Kenny), who lives nearby, for
finding this location, hiding the cache, & maintaining it for
me. Without him, Ashlee's Cache probably wouldn't have happened
.... or at least not very close to where she lives. I'm over 100
miles away & I wanted it within fairly easy distance for the
Los Traviesos. And not knowing the area, it would have been
difficult for me to find a good spot. But from the sound of the
already several logs .... Kenny did good. :) :)
==================================================
This cache is dedicated to a certain cacher who I learned of at
this years Paris, Arkansas event. That young lady is named
Ashlee.
It all started with the "Name That Cacher" contest. Most of us
were having no problem with the locals .... MathSeeker was easy,
with her trademark hair-cut .... Rklmbl & CacheMates, well,
EVERYONE knows them .... most of the others were instantly
recognizable too. But then there was a picture of a caching-team,
who just so happened to be celebrating their 2,000th find, which
was giving many of us Arkansawyers fits, including myself. So
finally, rather than just guessing, I did the honest thing &
cheated .... I asked somebody who the heck they were. :) :)
It was the caching family of the Los Traviesos, from Oklahoma.
Later, when they were posing for a combo group-picture/2000th
milestone-picture, I decided to squeeze into the frame also. That's
when I happened to notice Ashlee by her mother. She instantly
reminded me of a friends daughter whom we once looked after
occasionally, when the mom & dad needed to run errands or the
like.
I later learned who this family was & contacted the mother.
I wanted to know a bit more about Ashlee & also ask for
permission to make this cache for her. You see, Ashlee is a very
special cacher, in that she has a rare type of chromosome disorder,
very similar to the other girl I knew several years ago. This
touched me a great deal, especially seeing how Ashlee is always
right out there with her mom, doing the same stuff that every
single one of us do .... GEOCACHE!!
So that's why this cache exists, not to show that Ashlee is any
different than the rest of the caching-community .... but to show
that she's just the same. She's one of the best examples we can see
of how caching is much more than just finding an ammo-can in the
woods. It's a sport which allows families to enjoy time with each
other. It brings people together as friends, who probably would
have never met otherwise. And it introduces us to some individuals
who simply amaze us not with what they CAN'T do .... but rather
with what they CAN!!
Smile when you find this cache, because it's Ashlee's Cache,
& she likes smiles. :) :)
