No need to climb fences or anything like that. The FTF can contact us about getting a FTF certificate. Didn't fit in the container. But there is a slurpee coupon for the FTF that is in there.
We decide to place a cache here because there are many people in and around Steinbach who can say they have worked in this plant, either for the summer or a longer term. Two members of our group have worked there, one for a summer, and one is back after a time away a number of years ago. This is also where they met, about 19 years ago. The other two members of our group just aren’t old enough yet.
The Loewen business began in 1905, led by C.T. Loewen, a first-generation Canadian who had learned sawyer skills from his immigrant father. Loewen Millwork didn’t start by making windows. They turned out beekeeping equipment, church pews, hydro pole crossmembers and basic window and door elements. After a while, they decided to narrow their work to windows and doors. In 2005, Loewen celebrated their centennial year. They have grown over the years and are now in a 587,000 square foot manufacturing facility. Loewen is known for making quality, luxury windows.
