Scouting offers the sort of adventures that many youth never get the opportunity to experience. From cycling to climbing to SCUBA to caving, Scouts get to explore their world. This series of ten caches is dedicated to the various activities that scouts can partake in. Each cache, at its publishing, has a trading card that highlights one of the many adventures in scouting. Please take one if you like, collect all ten. Enjoy the adventure of the Geocaching and experience some of the adventure of Scouting through this cache! Park at N 36 10.840 W 086 36.801 Dodson Chapel Church was the meeting place for Cub Scout Pack 335 and Pack 701. This is on Church property and you do have permission to seek this cache only.
The March 2020 tornado really did a number on this area, completely destroying the church and severely damaged the school which have all been removed. It also tore up the area in the cache area. I did locate the cache and it did survive! I have moved it to an area a bit more accessible than the former area. The area is harder to negotiate but possible, it is no longer nicely mowed and the weeds and brush can be problematic. I have trimed some of the vegetation back. To access, park at the Parking Coordinates, locate a small barely obvious entrance, and walk northwest into a semi cleared area, then turn southwest. Trying to go straight to the cache via the road is extremely difficult. If you are trying to climb over/under downed trees, you are using the wrong approach. Dress for high weeds and stickers.
