Geocache Description:

Cache is a camo'd big Pill Bottle in Cave Hollow Park. It's not too far off trail, but slight bushwhacking is required in warmer months. Parking is pretty close.

Ophisaurus attenuatus or, the Slender Glass Lizard looks very much like a snake, but certainly is not! They are legless lizards of about 2 feet maximum length. Occasionally they are called Glass Snakes. Some of the defining features to let you know it is a lizard and not a snake, are it's ear openings and it's eye lids, snakes have neither. They tend to be tan to brown with black stripes running down their length.
Glass Lizards tend to enjoy open woodlands and grasslands. They are diurnal but are very tricky to catch a glimpse of. They hide quickly and if grabbed their tails will very easily shatter into several pieces, hence the reason for Glass in its name. They can be found throughout Missouri, and if you are lucky enough to see one, observe it and let it be on its way.
