Extract from Captain Morgan's diary dated

A strange phenomena. Known by those native to the area as
the hundred steps.
Sometimes there are more, sometimes less. Our guide assured me that
there were 117 steps
at the moment. Placed a cylinder here with a number inside that
corresponds to
C
Mr Staines who I promoted from seaman took the readings. I am
pleased to report that he
was sober so I have high hopes for the accuracy.
