Geocache Description:

A trillion dollar view from this location

Riverfront Park is a new addition to Point Pleasant Boro. If you are young, you will never know there used to be a hospital on this site, Point Pleasant Hospital- in full operation for about 75 years until the increase of population caused the building of Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ and property sold. The sale agreement included a portion of the land to be used for the public.

When you visit here, you'll see the magnificant view of the Manasquan River (see cache gallary) which runs out into the Atlantic Ocean and is affected by the tides in its depth. The River divides Ocean County from northern adjacent Monmouth County. Right near is the beginning of the Intercoastal Waterway which starts here and goes south all the way to Florida for boats. The island out there, commonly known as "Treasure Island" (there's a cache out there) is owned by the town of Brielle in Monmouth County and supposedly inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write his classic novel of the same name while he was vacationing in the area.

So, while you are here, enjoy the spot, the water, the beach, the park, and the walkway around the new Water Edge condos. Come back sometime to fish or kayak.

Be VERY careful. Summer brings multi-muggles.

This cache was out-of-commission for a while, but back today 7/6/2011. New container. Same location.
