Geocache Description:

Geocaching's 10th Ann. Cache: LZ X-Ray

This cache is place for Geocaching's 10th Anniversary. The cache is named for a nearby site that was used as a temporary landing pad for medical helicopters while our local hospital was being rennovated. The new landing pad is on the hospital roof.

From a historical perspective LZ X-Ray was the first major battle of US forces in Viet Nam. November 1965, saw the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry land in the IaDrang Valley. It was the battle at this historic Landing Zone that inspired the book and movie, "We were Soldiers Once...and Young".
