Geocache Description:

Another in the series of Virginia Capital Trail caches.

Follow the Virginia Capital Trail as it meanders through rural Charles City County. You will pass 18th century plantations, can take a side trip to Lawrence Lewis Jr. Park where the Union forces crossed the James River on their way to Petersburg, visit a fish hatchery, and maybe you will see some eagles along the way.

This ammo box cache is meant to be a travel bug exchange cache for all those extra bugs you have in your bicycling jersey pockets – the more you leave the lighter your load will be making the bike ride home easier. Feel free to take a travel bug if you want to move one along. There is a log book and pen in the cache so you don’t need to worry about bringing a writing implement with you.

CAUTION: This path is a multi-use path meant for walkers, joggers, and bicycles. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the path. If you need to drive to the cache parking may be a problem. There is a farm road just west of the cache but approval for parking has not been requested from the landowner so park at your own risk. DO NOT DRIVE ON THE PATH TO THE CACHE!!!

First to find rewards are a Virginia Capital Trail Foundation bicycle water bottle, a free registration to the 2011 Cap-to-Cap ride which takes place in May 2011 (you will be contacted for the necessary information), and the USS Enterprise CVN 65 geocoin.

This cache was placed with the approval of the Virginia Capital Trail.

Congratulations to va griz for being the first to find!
