Geocache Description:

St Patricks Church - one of Waimate’s imposing landmarks

The Church:
St Patrick’s Church was built in 1908 and opened in 1909. The window at the front of the church is 4.26m in diameter. The tower has three bells that were cast in Belgium. The largest weighs 750kg, the other two 500kg. The church was designed by architect, Francis Petrie. The church has a Category 1 rating by the NZ Historic Places Trust. Recently the parish has raised a lot of money to finish renovating the church. I have seen the inside of it and it looks great.

The Cache:
Cache is a small pill container in a garden at the side of the church, quite safe from muggly eyes. There is plenty of safe parking next to the cache. BYOP
